Damiana
Damiana has been hailed as an aphrodisiac since ancient times, particularly by the native peoples of Mexico. Other folk uses have included asthma, bronchitis, neurosis, and various sexual disorders. It has also been promoted as a euphoria-inducing substance at various times.

Dong Quai
History: Legends says that angelica was revealed in a dream by an angel to cure the deadly bubonic plague. In China, angelica has been used for several thousand years to treat many kinds of female problems. In traditional Chinese medicine, dong quai is often referred to as the "female ginseng." It is often included in prescriptions for abnormal menstruation, suppressed menstrual flow, painful or difficult menstruation, and uterine bleeding. A traditional use of dong quai was for hot flashes associated with perimenopause. Dong quai is also used for both men and women with cardiovascular disease, including high blood pressure and problems with peripheral circulation.

Blessed Thistle
History: Folk medicine utilized blessed thistle tea for digestive problems, including gas, constipation, and stomach upset. This herb was also used for liver and gallbladder diseases, in a similar way as its well-known relative, milk thistle. Early herbalists believed that the herb was a cure-all. They noted that the plant could both prevent and cure headache, provoke sweat, help memory, strengthen the heart and stomach, and cure external problems such as festering sores, boils, and the itch.

Hops
Hops gained acceptance in England as an ingredient in beer and as a medicinal herb in 17th century. American Indians made a sedative from the blossoms. Remedies For: Anxiety, Insomnia. Hops have been shown to have mild sedative properties. Many herbal preparations for insomnia combine hops with more potent sedative herbs, such as valerian. Hops are most commonly used for their calming effect on the nervous system. Hop tea is recommended for nervous diarrhea, insomnia, and restlessness. Hops also have diuretic properties and can be taken for various problems with water retention and excess uric acid.

Yellow Dock
Yellow dock has a long history of use as an alterative. Alterative herbs have non-specific effects on the gastrointestinal tract and the liver. As a result, they are thought to treat skin conditions that are attributed to toxic metabolites from maldigestion and poor liver function. The anthraquinones present have a markedly cathartic action on the bowel, but in this herb they act in a mild way. Thus it is useful for constipation, working as it does in a much wider way than simply stimulating the gut muscles. It promotes the flow of bile and has that somewhat obscure action of being a blood cleanser. Ayurvedic Applications: Diarrhea, female reproductive organs, heartburn, menstruation (irregular or excess), kidneys, liver, nausea, pre-childbirth toning, prolapse of uterus or anus, tones lower abdomen muscles, uterine bleeding, sore throats.

Red Raspberry
For hundreds of years, pregnant women in China, Europe, and America have benefited from the nurturing qualities of Red Raspberry Tea. Raspberry is rich in minerals calcium, magnesium, iron, and Vitamins B1, B3 and E, to help restore healthy bodily functions. In addition, it may help minimize menstrual cramps and decrease menstrual flow.

Saw Palmetto
It is reputed to be beneficial for the reproductive organs of both sexes, working as an aphrodisiac and tonic. In fact, herbalists use it to treat "honeymoon cystitis"--irritations due to excessive sexual activity.

Rhubarb
This remarkable detoxifying herb has been used throughout the world for centuries because of its healing properties. It has been shown to alleviate chronic liver problems by cleansing the liver. Rhubarb root has been shown to improve digestion. Rhubarb root, in addition to having concentrated amounts of both vitamins and minerals, contains a remarkable substance called rhein. Recent studies at the Oriental Medicine Research Center in Tokyo, Japan, indicate rhein inhibits the growth of Candida albicans.
